My name is Laura Arciniega, I have four beautiful children ages 14, 9, 7 and 5. I grew up in East Palo Alto, CA and I am the sixth of nine children.
Growing up in East Palo Alto, I made some bad choices. I made choices that, in my mind, were going to benefit me and only me, not knowing how it affected others, especially my kids. I was involved in gangs, drugs and all of the things that come with growing up in a home where both parents worked all day to provide for their children and I had all the time I needed to destroy my life. I didn't have the support and knowledge that I have now.

Today, I am proud to say I am an accepting, passionate and committed women who's desire is to help "At Risk Teens", like myself, make better choices for themselves. Help me "Empower OUR youth TODAY for a better Future Tomorrow".
My comittment to our community is to enroll more parents, teens and members of the community to empower each other so that together we start a NEW track of decisions that will benefit everyone.
Every change starts with ourselves and today I am choosing to empower my teen to make more effective decisions that will move her forward. I am reaching out to you asking for financial support to send my 14 year old daughter, Laura Verenise Soto, to Teen Camp.
Teen Camp is a five day course specifically designed for empowering teens and helping them develop tools to create an exciting future. Exercises in this course are tailored to speak to the hearts and minds of young adults. Teens receives the knowledge from two adult courses in one fun-filled week with other teens preparing for their future.
At Teen Camp, teens will discover the value of working as a team with their peers. They will learn to trust others and develop trust-worthiness in themselves. Teens will learn how resistance (to their parents, teachers, responsibilities, etc) affects a cycle of resentment in their lives. They will also have experiences that will allow them to reconcile painful experiences that have been holding them back. As in all levels of training, teens will learn about the power of belief systems, known as sunglasses, and learn to recognize and remove the belief systems that are preventing them from the life and future they want.
The mission for teens in Camp is:
To transform each teens' experience of themselves so that they feel more personal responsibility and self-esteem in their lives.
To assist teens in creating a foundation of principles and values that serve them in being more effective individuals and society members.
To allow a place of trust and safety where teens can talk about what is important to them and identify past hurts and resentments.
To give teens tools and techniques that will assist them in clearer communication as well as give them ways to set and accomplish personal goals.
To create an atmosphere where teens can make friends and enjoy open and honest relationships with each other.
Tuition for the camp is $2,095 US and I have raised $1,063 already, I have until July 10th to pay it in full. Any help that you can give me is greatly appreciated. If you are open, willing and able to help, please contact me via email for information on how you can do so.
Vere (my daughter), will be writing a letter upon her return to share her experience at Teen Camp and I will send you a copy of the letter.

in one day I finished over 230 pages, and there are only 748 pages in Brisingr... so I had to stop reading for fear of ending the book before I find another to take it's place (I have already exhausted my personal Library)
