Delayed sleep phase syndrome?
I just read up on some information on delayed sleep phase syndrome...I never knew it was an actual syndrome, but I think it might be me.
I can sleep at night if I take Benedryl (knocks me out for at least 4 hours, and if I wake up, I take more), and sometimes if I don't, but if I don't have to work during the day, and sometimes even when I do, I don't go to bed before 4am, and when I have to be up at 7am to work, it's not good...but when I am on holiday, my cycle switches completely to what I feel is more natural for me, sleeping from 4am, or at the latest 8am, in the morning until at least noon, sometimes as late as 5pm. And this feels very natural to me; I start calling day night and night day. It doesn't help that I have sensitivity to light (so much so that I sometimes have to wear sunglasses even in low light; it comes and goes).
But yea...I -can- sleep at night, but it feels so much more natural for me to sleep during the day. Delayed sleep phaese syndrome, you think?

I’ve never heard of this but it sounds like me as well. I almost never get to bed before 2am at the earliest and have a lot of difficulty waking up. If left to my own devices, I’ll go to sleep around 4 or 5am and not wake up until 1 or 2pm. This syndrome sounds like a reasonable explination, although there is always sleep problems due to stress and other issues. You should talk to a doctor or psychiatrist, I need to do the same. Hope it works out…
Yes it probably is, and your doctor can prescribe a medication like ambien cr to help to regulate your cycle
